Stop Overthinking Everything: Let AI Help You Make Decisions Faster

January 19, 20263 min read

You know that feeling: the tabs are open, your notes are everywhere, and your brain is bouncing between ideas like a pinball machine.

Should I raise my prices? Focus on YouTube or email? Launch now or wait? By the time you’re done thinking it through, you’re more stuck than when you started.

If overthinking is costing you time, clarity, or momentum, this blog is for you.

The Truth About Overthinking (It’s Not a You Problem)

Overthinking doesn’t mean you’re bad at business. It usually means you care, you're smart, and you're trying to get it right. But decision fatigue will drain your energy and delay your growth if you don't have a system to handle it.

That’s where AI comes in, not as the boss, but as a calm thinking partner.

3 Ways AI Can Help You Decide Faster (Without Outsourcing Your Judgment)

1. Clarity Decisions

Use AI to get clear on what really matters.

Prompt example:

You are my thinking partner. I run a [type of business] serving [audience]. I'm deciding on [insert decision]. Help me clarify my goal in one sentence and list 3–5 decision criteria.

AI can help turn the swirl in your head into a simple, focused objective.

2. Options Decisions

Use AI to see the landscape.

Prompt example:

Based on my business and audience, give me 3–5 realistic options for [insert decision]. Include a short description for each.

This isn’t about choosing yet, just exploring what’s possible.

3. Next Step Decisions

Use AI to move from theory to action.

Prompt example:

Assuming I choose [option], outline 3–5 simple steps I can take in the next 30 days to move forward and test it.

This keeps decisions grounded and testable.

The 3-Step Decision Conversation Prompt

When you’re truly stuck, use this full prompt:

You are my calm business thinking partner. I run [type of business] serving [audience]. I'm trying to decide [insert issue].

Step 1: Ask me 3–5 questions to clarify my goal and what matters.

Step 2: Based on my answers, suggest 3–5 realistic options.

Step 3: For each option, list pros and cons specifically for the next 90 days. At the end, help me summarize which option feels most aligned, but don’t make the decision for me.

Key Insight: The clarity is already in you. AI helps surface it.

Bonus Habit: Start a Decision Log

Overthinking often comes from a lack of feedback. You don’t trust yourself because you forget what worked.

A simple decision log can change that. After each decision:

  • Summarize what you chose, why, and what you'll track

  • 30–60 days later, review what happened

  • Ask AI: What 3 lessons can I apply next time?

Quick Tip: Your decision log doesn’t need to be fancy. A Google Doc or phone note works great.

What You Need to Know

Will AI make the decision for me?
No, and that’s a good thing. You stay in charge. AI helps you see clearly and act faster.

What if AI still feels generic?
That usually means your oven isn't pre-baked. Use the free Pre-Baking the Oven Guide to train AI on your business, voice, and goals.

What kind of decisions is AI best for?
Planning, brainstorming, prioritizing, or mapping next steps. AI is a clarity tool—not a crystal ball.

What’s one thing I can do today?
