Watch Me Use ChatGPT to Write a Blog Post That Sounds Like Me
Watch Me Use AI to Write a Blog Post That Sounds Like You
When's the last time you posted a blog that didn’t feel like pulling teeth? If you're like most small business owners, it's been a while, not because you don't care, but because writing blogs is time-consuming and creatively draining.
Good news: it doesn’t have to be that way.
In this post, I’ll walk you through exactly how I use ChatGPT to write a blog post that sounds like you, your tone, your expertise, your voice. And I’m showing every step of the process using a fictional business: Radiant Roots Hair Studio.
The Step-by-Step Blog Writing Process with AI
Step 1: Pre-Bake the Oven (Always)
Before I ask ChatGPT for anything, I feed it the key ingredients: details about the business, brand voice, services, tone, and ideal client. You can use the Pre-Bake the Oven Guide to do this easily.
Once that’s done, I paste it into ChatGPT. That context makes all the difference.
Quick Tip: You can use this method with any AI tool—not just ChatGPT. It works with Gemini, Claude, and more.
Step 2: Ask for Blog Ideas
My first prompt is simple:
"Based on the business info above, give me 10 blog post ideas that would help Radiant Roots get found on Google and connect with potential clients."
ChatGPT delivered categories like:
Fall hair color trends
Bridal hair prep tips
How to maintain dimensional color
And more. The goal is to let AI brainstorm, then pick what feels right for your brand.
Step 3: Customize with a Conversation
Instead of letting AI write the whole post blindly, I guided it.
I chose a blog title idea: "Why Cinnamon and Copper Are This Fall's Must-Have Hair Colors in Louisville" and asked ChatGPT:
"Before you write this post, ask me 3 questions to help personalize it."
That one move made the post more relevant, more detailed, and more you.
Key Insight: Don’t skip the chance to co-write. AI is faster with you, not instead of you.
Step 4: Outline Before Writing
Next, I asked for an outline to make sure the structure made sense before writing.
This included:
Introduction
Color trend details
Tips from the stylist
Local tie-ins
Call to action
Outlining first means fewer edits later.
Step 5: Generate the Blog Post
Once the outline felt right, I prompted:
"Write a blog post based on the outline above. Keep it friendly, trendy, and conversational. Aim for 500–700 words."
The result? A ready-to-tweak, polished blog post that hit all the marks.
Q&As
Do I need the paid version of ChatGPT?
Nope! The free version is fine. Pre-baking the oven makes it work better either way.
What if I don’t like the first version ChatGPT gives me?
Just give it feedback like "make it more playful" or "cut the fluff." It learns as you go.
Can I really do this in one sitting?
Yes, once you have your pre-bake ready, this process can take under an hour.
